The Lakeside Arena at the Jinja Prison Complex was full of excitement as the South Eastern Region hosted the Commissioner General of Prisons (CGP) Cup finals.
Jinja Main Prison emerged as overall winners after a strong showing in both netball and football.

They narrowly defeated Jinja Remand 33–32 in a tense netball final and went on to beat Buyende Prison 2–1 in football, thanks to former Marrons striker Lance Corporal Warder Wycliffe Ntege brace.
Buyende is a former Maroons FC player and once served as the club’s stadium manager before transitioning into Micro Prisons Administration.
Jinja Women and Kamuli Prison took third and fourth places in netball, while Jinja Remand and Kamuli secured third and fourth places in football respectively.

The finals featured a variety of activities, including fun games, a medical camp, fitness sessions, tree planting, and community engagement.
Officers across the region hailed the Commissioner General of Prisons Dr. Johnson Byabashaija for his commitment to staff welfare, unity, physical well-being and morale through creation of opportunities for officers to bond, stay healthy and celebrate the strength of the Service.
