Gwaka, Mukova shine in 2026 first beach woodball circuit

Uganda woodball federation held its first National beach woodball open championship over the weekend at Bunjako Beach in Buwama with a good number of players from different regions of the country taking part.

In the seniors, Gwaka Brian of Kampala international university (KIU) came on top in the men singles with 34 strokes. Amanyire Danny Gilles came second with 37 strokes while

Oming Trevor of Kyambogo was third position with 37strokes.

In the senior women category, Mukova Joan of the Ministry of Public service topped with 39 strokes while her teammate Naula Jackie had 41 strokes in second with Nanjeru Denise coming third.

In the women’s Doubles, Nabaggala Sandra and Mukoya Florence Outshined others with 43 strokes. Mukamarinda Alvera and Ago Linda of Ndejje Corporates came second with 43 strokes while Mukova Joan and Namuddu Sophie of the Ministry of Public Service had 44 strokes in third.

In the mixed Double Category, Byamukama Bridge and Nalubega Joyce of Min of public Service registered 38 strokes as leaders, followed by Mutibwa Robert and Birunji Christine of Ministry of Public Service with 41 strokes while Suuna Robert and Zawedde Lillian of Kampala University (KU) had 43 strokes in third.

In the Corporate Category Men, Ssenteza Aloysious of University of Kisubi topped with 44 strokes, Kiiza Careb of Ndejje Corporate was second with 45 strokes while Kalunga Michael of University of Kisubi had 45 strokes in third.

In the Corporate Women Category, Ainembabazi Patience of the Ministry of Public was in position one with 50 Strokes, Nassuna Teddy of University of Kisubi (UNIK) came second with 52 strokes while Betty Mbabazi of Ndejje Corporate had 63 strokes in position three.  

And According to the Uganda woodball federation (UWBF) president Paul Mark Kayongo, the federation has started putting together a team to represent the country in this year’s next Beach Woodball World Cup due July in Malaysia.
