The 4th Beach Woodball World Cup is underway at Laem Charoen Beach with Uganda’s men storming the semifinal after beating India 3-0 in the Quarterfinals of the championship.

The win booked Uganda a semi-final against Hongkong in the Fairway team category.

Coach Onesimus Atamba was impressed by the performance of the team, saying that despite the harsh weather playing under rain, the team was posting good results and is optimistic the team will perform better.

“We started in the morning under rain which we are not used to, but the scores were impressive,” Atamba told the media team.

Uganda Woodball Federation President Paul Mark Kayongo urged the players to put aside the negatives of the day and focus on today’s games.

National council of sports general secretary Dr. Bernard Ogwel urged players to stay disciplined and focused on their game because winning medals will earn them not only government recognition, but also money.

In the Stroke opening games team captain Thomas Khedi and Darry Gilles Amanyire hit 22/23 to post each 55 strokes in the pool stages.

Eight countries including Taipei, Indonesia, Korea, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Nepal, and hosts, Thailand, had stormed the quarter finals.
