The boxing fraternity is shocked over the sudden death of prospective national team boxer Alex Kanaabi. Kannabi breathed his last at Kiruddu hospital with preliminary unconfirmed reports saying that the KCCA Boxing club boxer died of poisoning.
Police is yet to come out with an official statement as some sources point at suicide which the family rules out.
Kanaabi has been a formidable boxer in the Uganda boxing champions league and he was on December 26th decorated with a title belt as the season four Light middleweight champion after beating Mawanda Depark in the final by unanimous decision at the Lugog arena.
Kanaabi won a bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Zone III Boxing Championship held in Nairobi, Kenya on his national team debut.
Uganda boxing federation president and Kampala central member of parliament aspirant Moses Muhangi has already conveyed his condolences to the family, friends and the boxing fraternity.
