277 golfers compete in Kabalaza golf open

Phillip Kasozi claimed the professional title at the 2026 Kabalaza Golf Open Championship after a total score of 140 across two rounds at Entebbe Club.

A total of 277 golfers competed in the golf season-opening tournament, from February 5 to 7 in the professionals, gross amateurs, and subsidiary categories.

Kasozi posted consistent rounds of 70 and 70 to seal victory with Deco Mutebi finishing second on 141, just as after rounds of 70 and 71. Silver Opio, David Kamulindwa, and Rodell Gaita followed respectively.

In the amateur section, Herbert Kamuntu emerged overall men’s winner with 43 points off handicap 18, while Faith Namara topped the ladies’ field with 44 points off handicap 25.

Away from the trophies, the winners have a three night full board stay at Mist Hotel Entebbe.

Amateur golfer Andrew Ssekibejja

Andrew Ssekibejja led the men’s gross amateur standings with a total score of 217.

Special prizes saw Juma Abiti win the men’s longest drive and Judith Komugisha take the ladies’ equivalent. Bryan Kivumbi secured nearest to the pin honours. Junior winners were Peter Mayende in the boys’ category and Harshittha Loganathan among the girls, while senior winners included Steven Kitamirike for men and Susan Knight for ladies.
