FUFA third Vice President Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi has warned that FUFA may wake up and dissolve the Uganda premier league amidst the stand-off between Uganda premier league clubs and the federation over the new league format that the federation is set to roll out.
Appearing on NBS Sport, Nakiwala warned that the federation has the right to start and dissolve the league at any moment they feel like.
“We are the owners of the league. We start the league and we can wake up and abolish it. We do not expect anyone to push something we are not for. You can separate clubs from FUFA and they have to speak with one voice as members,” she noted.
“I have never seen a battle when FUFA was starting the FUFA Big league. This is a very simple battle that we shall easily win. In politics, someone can scare you off even when you have potential if you are not firm,” she added.

Thirteen of the 16 premier league clubs met with FUFA at Serena hotel in Kampala on Tuesday to discuss the way forward.
The two parties agreed to have a reflection of one week before reaching a consensus next Tuesday, 9th August, 2025.
According to the new proposed format, the league will turn into a three-phase competition structure. Sixteen teams would play a one-leg first round to split into two groups of eight.
The second round would see each group play a full home-and-away league, with the top six from the leading group moving into a title-deciding phase and the bottom six from the other group battling relegation. All points from earlier rounds would be reset.
