Kitara FC president Deo Kasozi believes that fans boycott of the Uganda premier league games is more driven in Kampala than upcountry.

Speaking to FUFA TV, Kasozi said that fans are getting used to the new and within no time they will turn up in the stadiums. “We have the Bunyoro derby as Kitara faces Buhimba in one of the biggest games and all the fans are going to turn up. So, the things of boycotting games, I think, are here in Kampala. For us everyone is going to come for that game. And I believe the fans are getting used and they will be able to come back to stadiums and I want to ask the fans to come back and watch this is our game,” noted Kasozi.

He says that Fufa’s initiative of coming up with reforms that help clubs is what is needed.

“You know we have been struggling and saying football is not doing very well and when these initiatives come up, for us we support them and we shall continue supporting because the people who come with these initiatives think a lot. They are thinking for football throughout their life and for us we come in partially. So, when a new initiative has come up, we need to implement it and then see the results and we have seen a lot of results coming and people really should support these initiatives,” Kasozi said he received balls from FUFA on Thursday. The Federation distributed Zakayo Category 1 balls to all the 16 Uganda Premier League clubs as part of its support for competition reforms.

The balls, valued at 50 million Uganda shillings, were handed over by Hon. Florence Nakiwala, the FUFA 3rd Vice President and Competition Executive Supervisor.

Each club received 30 Zakayo balls and according to Nakiwala, it is compulsory to use the Janzi ball on each matchday.

Zakayo balls are the official match balls used in FUFA Competitions.
