On Sunday, 3rd August, 2025, FUFA sought divine intervention across different churches in Kampala metropolitan as the Uganda Cranes prepared to face Algeria in their opening game of the CHAN 2024 tournament at the Namboole stadium.
At the Worship House in Nansana, Uganda youth football association (UYFA) Chairman Roberts Kiwanuka represented the FUFA President.
Lead pastor Wilson Bugembe prayed for the Cranes not only to perform well at the ongoing CHAN tournament, but also proposer in all other upcoming tournaments to the level of qualifying to the world cup.
“I pray for Uganda Cranes to perform well in this CHAN. Dear God, if indeed this is your house, where prayers are answered. We seek your intervention for our team.
Let us not grow old without seeing Uganda Cranes play at the world cup,” prayed Bugembe before rallying masses to go support the team.

According to Kiwanuka, the divine intervention sought was to enable the team to at least get to the knockout stage.
Uganda has never got out of the group in this competition from the previous seven editions it has participated in.
