Philanthropist: Dr. Hamis Kiggundu boosts Uganda Cranes camp

Uganda’s top businessman Dr. Hamis Kiggundu boosted the Uganda Cranes camp with Shs20m ahead of their CHAN 2024 tournament opening tier against Algeria on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Through the Speaker of parliament, Anita Among, the philanthropist extended Shs20m and promised to offer the side the same amount per every victory.

“I met one of the friends of Uganda Cranes Dr. Hamis Kiggundu and he gave me a small token to give you. He gave Shs20m to give you and buy water. He said that if you win he will give you the same amount for every win,” noted the Speaker.

Dr. Hamis, the CEO of Hamz group of companies has continued to significantly invest in Uganda football. Away from reconstruction of the Nakivubo stadium – the only internationally accredited stadium in Kampala, Kiggundu has also organized competitions worth hundreds of millions.

Currently, the Hmaz up is at the round of 32 with the next fixture scheduled for this Wednesday, August 6th, 2025 as Mutaasa Kaferro take on Original Kisekka spare center.

The tournament has prizes worth over Shs100m with the winner assured of Shs50m while the runners up have Shs25m, Shs15m and Shs10m respectively. There are also individual awards worth millions.

The generous Hamis also sponsors individual athletes to international competitions.
