Uganda’s representatives URA Football Club return to Mapinduzi Cup action today, January 5th, 2026 in a must-win tie against Azam FC.

The sides have met four times with URA winning once while the three times have ended in stalemate. After the 1-all draw with Singida in their last fixture, URA FC assistant coach Bastu Ssemuyaba says that they will have to handle the Azam game carefully.
“We are happy that we are here and it has been a tough journey. We are just left with one last game in the group stage. I think it is a game we have to handle carefully because we are facing a good team. We do not win by luck, but by strategies and we shall try to strategize. I expect a good but tough game and I know the boys are ready and know what to do,” Ssemuyaa told the media ahead of the tie.
URA FC lifted the trophy in 2016 when they defeated Mtibwa Sugar FC 3-1 in the final.
