KCCA FC manager Brian Ssenyondo maintains that winning a trophy remains the club’s target this season.

Ssenyondo also believes that URA FC will give them a hard time this weekend during their Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter final tie at the Hamz Nakivubo stadium despite having potential to go past the three-time winners.

The Joint 10-time winners KCCA FC were drawn against three-time champions URA in the Stanbic Uganda cup quarterfinal draws last week.

KCCA will be traveling to Hamz Nakivubo stadium on April 4th and coach Brian Ssenyondo has termed the fixture as tricky.

“It is a tough fixture because both teams have won the trophy and in particular, the three coaches have had hands on it. But we badly need a trophy and we are here to win the trophy and I believe we shall,” noted Ssenyondo.

“Any coach, player or fan would wish to face a weaker side, but if you want to win you have to beat the best. And getting a tougher fixture at this stage makes you tested enough on the road to the final,” he added.

KCCA have recently enjoyed a winning run in the premier league, winning the last five games in a row.

It is a combination of many factors and it is not about us only coaches. It is a combination of on and off the pitch. After that bad spell, many things were rectified and I just thank the board,”

With their last title coming about five seasons ago, the target is to win silverware this season.

“The club has gone six season without a trophy and this season, the bare minimum is a trophy,”

The Lugogo side’s improved performance coincided with the coming of Simeon Masaba to the technical team. Ssenyondo however refuses to credit the former Uganda Cranes captain for the performance improvement despite admitting his impact.

“For us, we are a team and he is a compliment to the team. He found a team that works together and added something but we cannot attribute winning or losses to an individual,” noted Ssenyondo.

KCCA FC last won the Stanbic Uganda Cup in 2018, while they have now lifted the league title since the same 2028-2019 season.
