The Federation of Uganda football associations (FUFA) has been cited in a Shs8.9bn Nile Breweries financial fraud. According to the CEO Magazine, Kibo media, the FUFA official events partner company has been dragged to the commercial division of the high court along with two former South Sudanese employees over a massive procurement fraud that allegedly led to a company loss of Shs8.9bn.

CEO Magazine reports that the suit shows that the defendants ran a deliberate fraudulent scheme between 2021-2024 in which Kibo media received questionable and inflated payments for advertising and marketing services.

This allegedly followed a recommendation by FUFA in the context of promoting the Uganda Cranes football team and specific marketing deliverables during the Cranes international engagements, local team promotion headlined by ‘Cranes Na Mutima’ regional visits as well as the FUFA Drum tournament.

It is alleged that Nile breweries under their Nile Special brand, as Uganda Cranes sponsors, entered into a Shs2.8bn deal, but ended up paying Shs11.9bn, which caused the company a Shs8.9bn financial loss.

Although FUFA is not directly part of the main suite, Nile Breweries ended further transactions in December 2024.

Nile Breweries seek recovery of Shs8.9bn in special damages, representing the money that was paid for services never delivered.
