Uganda braced for maiden East Africa Afcon finals

After the curtains officially came down at the 2025 AFCON tournament hosted by Morocco, all eyes are on East Africa prior to the upcoming 2027 PAMOJA Afcon championship.

The president of Confederation of African Football (CAF) Dr Patrice Motsepe officially handed over the CAF flag to East Africa.

The representatives from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda received the CAF flag moments after the explosive finale between hosts Morocco and Senegal.

Uganda, was among other personalities, represented by the state minister for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang and Eng. Moses Magogo, the FUFA president.

Preparations are already in high gear to have a successful AFCON 2027 in East Africa which will be the first championship to be co-hosted by three countries in the history of the competition that has been played since 1957.

Uganda has earmarked the renovated Namboole and the new Hoima City stadiums to host the games with construction training facilities attached to the two facilities already underway.
