Earlier this month in Hoima during the general assembly, FUFA passed a Shs39bn budget for the year 2026. According to the budget, the federation budgeted for more than the expected income. According to Sam Bakiika, the FUFA deputy group CEO in charge of compliance, they expect to spend Shs48bn despite a budget of Shs39bn.

“In situations like this, we run what we call priority expenditure budget and the Shs9bn will remain as an underfunded budget until maybe when we get the resources,” he explained.

Bakiika said that the budget will be funded by resources from donors including FIFA, CAF and the government. FUFA also gets income from sponsors, matchday taking and merchandise sales.

On expenditure, Bakiika noted that the federation will spend in three categories including sport, business and governance.

“In sport, we shall spend on the implementation of the technical masterplan, football development, competitions, national teams and human resources. In business, we shall spend on the finance department, marketing and communication,” highlighted Bakiika.

FUFA gets annual Shs17bn from the government as the biggest beneficiary from the sports budget.
