The 2025 Stanbic Entebbe Match Play golf challenge reached a critical stage as Round 3 concluded on May 10 at Entebbe Golf Club, showcasing intense competition across a field of 160 participants.

In the stroke-play segment, Sheila Ajok led the ladies’ category with an impressive 40 points off a handicap 46, displaying remarkable consistency.

Close behind were Florence Keter (36 pts, H/C 42), Maureen Okura (33 pts, H/C 18), and national team player Martha Babirye (32 pts, H/C 5) – Babirye also blasted the Longest Drive among the women.

The men’s stroke-play leaderboard was equally tight: Paul Habyarimana (H/C 5) and Bob Matsiko (H/C 21) tied on top with 38 points each, closely pursued by Michael Sekadde, Kenneth Kiddu, and Tony Kisadha at 36 points apiece.

Attention then turned to the match-play knockout ties, which delivered drama and suspense. Eight tightly contested matches determined the quarter-finalists, including a duel where Yunus Bbaale & Anthony Agaba edged Twijukye K. & Richard M. 1-up after a sudden-death playoff hole.

Another pairing survived a two-hole playoff, and the team of Richard Mugisha & Louis Tumukunde claimed the round’s biggest win at 3&2.

With side contests like Nearest-to-Pin and Longest Drive also decided (won by Kudzai Manyeza and Agamile Samson respectively), the stage is set for Round 4 on June 7.

The remaining four match-play fixtures have been drawn, as golfers prepare for the final push toward the championship in this year’s edition.
