After a successful medal hunt at the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships, Uganda Athletics has shifted attention to this year’s World Athletics Indoor Championships scheduled for March 20-22nd in Poland.

Uganda Athletics President Dominic Otucet believes that the Indoor Championships present another opportunity for Ugandan athletes to test themselves against the world’s best.
“The seven medals we won in the world cross country gives us the best performance ever in the championships. And after the world cross-country championship we are looking forward to the world indoors. It is the next event and we are still in the qualification period for the word indoors,” noted Otucet.
“We are yet to have any athlete qualify for 2026 World athletics indoor championships but I know we shall have athletes qualifying. We are also looking at the Commonwealth Games where athletics is the sport that this nation will be looking up to,” he added.
Uganda is expected to send a bigger team compared to last year’s edition in China where it was only represented by only two middle-distance runners; Tom Dradriga and Halima Nakaayi.
