Former football players have been urged not to spend all their money recklessly so that they can prepare for their old age. This call was made by former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Paul Ssali and Pastor Paul Musisi as former players met at Caring Hearts in Wakiso to launch a development initiative dubbed “Football Back to Community.”
Ssali says that bringing former players together will help support and rehabilitate those who have been affected by life’s hardships, adding that engaging in income-generating activities will help them overcome poverty.
He urged current players to spend their money wisely and prepare for life after football, rather than waiting until they are old before planning for the future.
Pastor Musisi says that the initiative has already helped aged former players by providing medical assistance, supporting the education of children of deceased former players, among other forms of assistance.
The Legends also feel that FUFA and the Government abandoned them, despite the fact that they represented the country and raised the national flag high.
