UPDF crowned 2026 inter-forces champions

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) were crowned overall winners of the 18th Inter-forces Games and Target Shooting Championship that climaxed in Gulu City on Friday, September 4th, 2026.

UPDF emerged champions after winning gold in Target Shooting, Netball and Volleyball.

The Uganda Police Force (UPF) were the first runners-up, winning gold in Taekwondo and Football, while the Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) finished second runners-up, winning gold in Athletics.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) finished in fourth position.

Results from Handball and Darts were not considered in the final standings, as no participating force won both the men’s and women’s categories in the respective disciplines.

During the closing ceremony, the Uganda Prisons Service was officially handed the mantle of hosting the 19th edition of the Games and Target Shooting Championship.

The prison warders also received the Inter-forces Games flag from the UPDF, symbolizing the formal handover of hosting responsibilities.

Held under the theme “Building Synergy through Sports,” the championship brought together the security forces in a spirit of teamwork, unity and cooperation.
