Kitara FC president Deo Kasozi has reiterated that the club’s target is to progress up to the group stages in the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Uganda Cup champions host Mogadishu City FC in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round next month at the Hoima City stadium, giving the new facility one of its biggest competitive tests since opening its doors.

Speaking after the launch of the match tickets in Hoima, Kasozi noted that the focus is on the preliminary round despite bigger ambitions. “Our target is to reach the group stage but we are focusing on the preliminary round first. With the league, we want to win the league. The results you see are preseason tests. Let’s wait and see how we start the league next month,” he noted.

Kasozi revealed that both fixtures, scheduled for September 6 and 12 respectively, will have tickets bought physically and online on a first come, first serve basis.

“The tickets for the games are out with 16,000 allocated to ordinary supporters at Shs20,000 while 856 VIP tickets will be sold at Shs50,000.”

The remaining 144 places are in the Sky VVIP section, where Kitara will sell 12 boxes at Shs1 million.

The two matches will also test the facility earmarked to host AFCON 2027.
