Luutu leads seniors at Jonnie Walker golf championship

The 2026 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship returned on Friday with the Seniors Open Men at Uganda golf club, Kitante.

Round was exciting with more than 50 senior golfers taking to the greens.

By the end of the day, Elija Luutu led the way on level par after a solid round of 72 to complete his 18 holes.

Kenya’s Gurbux Singh stood next best among the finishers on +5 after carding 77.

Uganda’s own Joseph Bagabo signed for +8 with an 80, while William Otieno and Micheal Cleave both finished on +9after rounds of 81.

Scotland’s David Plenderleith, who is also the defending champion, completed his round on +10 with an 82.

With many players still out on the course, the race for the Seniors title remains wide open ahead of day this Saturday.
