Former Uganda Cranes captain Bernard Muwanga has declared his candidacy for the LC1 chairperson position in Lwadda A Village, Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality.

Muwanga, who led the national team during the 2018 and 2022 CHAN tournaments under then-head coach Sébastien Desabre, says he has lived in the area for a long time and has already been serving as an informal community leader which gives him a clear understanding of the challenges facing residents.

Throughout his football career, Muwanga has captained several teams, gaining valuable leadership experience.

“I am among the pioneers of Bright Stars FC and guided the club to the Uganda Premier League and these experiences prepared me for public leadership. The community needs energetic and youthful leadership and I can ably balance my football career with the responsibilities of serving as LC1 chairperson,” Muwanga noted.

He also revealed that he is nearing retirement from football, confirming that securing the LC1 chairperson seat might trigger his retirement.

The UPDF FC player has appealed to the residents of Lwadda A Village to trust him with their vote, promising honest, transparent, and dedicated leadership.
