The state minister for sports Peter Ogwang has delivered on his promise of Shs5m to Uganda Teen Cranes player Shadia Nabirye.
Ogwang promised the cash reward to the Kawempe Muslim player after being named the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Championship Most valuable player at the tournament that Uganda won.

Nabirye confirmed receipt of the reward through FUFA media.

” I am so happy, I received the money and I feel proud of myself. I encourage all the young girls to work harder so that they can promote their talents. I thank the honourable minister for fulfilling his promise and this has motivated me to work even harder,” noted Nabirye.

Meanwhile, FUFA will host a Media Engagement on Club Licensing this Tuesday at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

The engagement is part of FUFA’s preparations for the 2026/27 season and aims to equip journalists with accurate information on the Club Licensing process and its role in professionalising football in Uganda.
