With just two weeks to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow Scotland, Uganda’s respective teams are in intense training at various venues.

Uganda will be making a debut in judo at the Glasgow games with two athletes Charles Mwangushya and Zubeda Talikaza entered for the competition.
To ensure remarkable performances, Mwangushya and Talikaza have embarked on daily double training sessions at Apex gym in Mutajazi.
The two athletes’ training is overseen by fitness and strength Coach Musa Kwizera under close supervision of head coach George Ssekiwunga.
After the morning gym session, the team trains again in the afternoon getting better for the challenge ahead.
The two judokas are arguably the best in the country. Mwangushya is a five-time national champion and has also won the East African crown four times.
He has also played at the European Grand slam in France, featured at the African open in Morocco, represented at the European judo championship in Italy and also contested the Tokyo grand slam.

Zubeda has won the national title five times and the East African crown on four occasions. She featured at the African Games, European grand slam on top of competing in Australia, Czech Republic and Tokyo.
Uganda will take 55 athletes from ten sports disciplines to the 11-day games that start on July 23rd.
