The Uganda people’s defense forces (UPDF) engineers brigade has assured the Country that they are going to work day and night to ensure that Hoima Hoima Booma ground is done within the six months timeline.
The facility is one of the earmarked training grounds for the AFCON 2027 to be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

According to Lt. Richard Isingoma, the project manager and site engineer, the scope of work includes the pitch, changing rooms, washrooms for both Afcon training pitch and the ceremonial grounds.
“This team is meant for Afcon 2027 training for teams playing in Hoiam City stadium. We are also putting basketball and volleyball courts which will be used by the community,” noted Isingoma who hailed the Bunyoro community for embracing the project.
The UPDF engineering brigade disclosed this Hoima city woman member of parliament also shadow minister for works Nyakato Asinansi on her site visit to assess progress.
“The speed is good, I commend them for the work so far done. As leaders in the city we need to support them so that they are able to deliver on time. They are doing bush and excavation works so that they beat the deadline. I implore the people of Bunyoro to cooperate with the UPDF officers on site,” she noted.

The legislature also commended UPDF for employing people from the locality both experts and casual workers.
“We pray they go by that because people have been asking us how they benefit from Afcon. It starts with such employment before the real competition,” added Nyakato.
Nyakato implored the general public in Hoima to cooperate with the UPDF, saying that the coming of AFCON has a lot of benefits to the community, including jobs on site, business boost among other advantages.
